At nine years of age Marnie Side found his love for music. Growing up the Nickerson Garden Projects, in Watts California, it became an outlet for him to get through life’s challenges. It wasn’t long before he took his talent for battle rapping to the next level and began performing and building a local fan base for his skills as an M.C. and his incredible stage presence.
Growing up and maturing in his skills, Marnie Side has been a member of a couple of groups along the way. The first group was called Ballers, where he was mentored by then platinum selling producer Tee K.O. After the first group parted ways, Marnie Side connected with Flipside, a member of O.F.T.B. which was signed with Death Row records at the time. During this point in his career Marnie Side learned how to construct songs, professionally record music, and was mentored by many greats such as Tupac Shakur. Soon after the tragic death of Tupac Shakur and the end of Death-Row’s rein; Marnie Side joined a second group, The Sidas (Siders). The group signed to an independent label “Flat Broke Entertainment”. During this time the record company released a compilation album that featured Marnie Side called “The Return Of The West”, which sells went gold!; and it’s still selling till this day.
Soon after Marnie Side realized that being a solo artist was the best fit for him.
